Description
Job Description:
- Responsible for set up and maintenance of full recycling programs in all stores, facilities, and office buildings.
- Direct all facilities and stores to full circle composting program including working with haulers and large composting facilities.
- Develop and execute educational trash audits one per quarter.
- Coordinate and oversee the development of comprehensive, user-friendly training materials for use at all levels and in all locations.
- Be the lead in research and test locations for alternative energy saving programs, including the development and cost analysis of such programs.
- Develop reward system for all locations based on quantitative and qualitative green improvements.
- Work with National and Regional Construction Teams for green building initiatives, ensuring that all programs are designed into our new stores and facilities.
- Work with the Regional Marketing Team to develop ways to promote our programs at our stores and facilities.
- Attend store meetings for educational purposes and program roll-outs.
- Represent the Mid-Atlantic Region on a national level including weekly e-mail communications and attending at least two national meetings per year.
- Consistently and effectively inform, validate, measure and educate regional leadership on the successes, failures, challenges, and quantitative measurement of return on investment of programs.
- Represent Whole Foods Market at various environmental events within our communities.
- Build and maintain a Regional Green Team consisting of a representative from each location, and hold regular meetings.
- Be a participant in the MALN team meetings.
- This position will report directly to the Regional President.
Job Requirements:
- A passion for Green initiatives and lifestyle.
- Education in and understanding of environmental issues, including local, national, and global perspective.
- Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.
- Experience in the environmental field in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated working understanding and the importance of the implementation of Green initiatives within a business.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and monitor programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to run effective large-scale meetings.
- Experience as a creative teacher and motivator.
- Be an outside-the-box thinker.
- Must be willing and able to travel and have a flexible work schedule.
- Must have a passion for the environment, Whole Foods Market, and our core values.
- Training and creative computer skills a plus.
Compensation:
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
