CECA is the senior public interest organization in the United States focusing on the energy industries that provide essential services to consumers. As a leading national resource for policy analysis, CECA has three decades of experience building consensus among stakeholders and developing policy that serves the consumer's interest.

Located in downtown Washington, DC, CECA is within walking distance of three subway stops, two major university libraries, the White House and numerous cultural and political sites.

Multiple intern opportunities are available IMMEDIATELY. $100 p/wk travel stipend for undergrad students; $150 p/wk travel stipend for grad students

Public Policy Research Intern Responsibilities

Students interning with CECA are assigned a variety of research tasks depending on the individual's strongest abilities and areas of interest. Interns work on all phases of project development and office administration, and are an essential part of the CECA team.

CECA interns have such responsibilities as:

*Tracking legislation through research and by attending Congressional hearings and meetings;
* Assisting in drafting issue papers, conducting literature reviews, and working on a variety of writing tasks;
* Compiling and analyzing data from which they prepared relevant tables and charts;
* Conducting in-depth research on economic and industry issues relating to energy policy;
* Developing and enhancing CECA's web site.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE USEFUL FOR INTERNSHIPS

Interested applicants must have excellent research and writing skills, attention to detail, and should be interested in the fields of energy and environmental studies, economics, or public policy. Interns should be willing and able to work independently, take initiative when opportunities arise, and be flexible enough to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously. A vibrant sense of humor is essential.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The internship program is available to both graduate and undergraduate students throughout the year. Interested students must submit 1) a cover letter, 2) dates of availability, 3) rsum, 4) names and phone numbers of at least three professional or academic references, and 5) two recent in-depth writing samples (i.e., research papers). Internships are available for flexible schedules and could begin immediately or at the beginning of the Fall 2005 semester.
