Description
The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 5,000 corporate and organizational members that is dedicated to promoting environmentally-responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work is currently seeking a Communications Services Assistant to join its dedicated and hard-working Communication Services team to provide administrative and production support for the department's activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintains electronic and hard copy Communications Services information systems (project files, project description files, press clip files, mailing list, image files, media database, etc.)
- Provides word processing and desktop publishing support for Communications Services efforts, including collateral materials, general Communications Services correspondence, etc.
- Prepares mailings of brochures, maintain inventories of collateral material and coordinate reprints as needed
- Assists in production of presentations, brochures, etc., public relations activities, and mailings
- Maintains the inventory of marketing collateral, including presentations and printed matter
- Provides logistical support for trade shows
- Provides support for implementation of advertising plan
- Assists in obtaining project information and related images as well as tracking green building statistics and studies
- Assists in background research on target markets, publications, etc., as appropriate
- Other related tasks as assigned
- Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Business (Marketing) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator preferred
- General understanding of relational databases (e.g., Access)
- Ability to understand principles of layout and apply to Communications Services materials
- Good organization and communications skills
- Good grammar and proofreading skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team

Salary mid to low $20K's along with excellent benefits package.
