Department: Media & Production Services

Reports to: Art Director (along with product and department managers as appropriate)
Average hours per week: 40

General Purpose:
The graphic designer is responsible for meeting the visual communication needs of Integral Institute and all subsidiaries. Graphic designer works with Art Director and various managers on design solutions in varying media (print, web, A/V), exploring appropriate, communicative, and creative approaches to representing the I-I brand and integral ideas. Graphic designer must uphold professional-level aesthetic standards and maintain brand consistency while seeking to help I-I stand out in the marketplace through cutting-edge imagery and ideas. Designer should be able to see a project through from inception to completion, work independently, and be able to take constructive criticism and direction from Art Director and other managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

? Integral Naked: weekly graphic needs (medallions, icons, "Cam" graphics, etc), special feature graphics, and graphic portion of Flash movies
? Integral University (as of 4.6.05): assist in the redesign and development of IU Beta ("IU 2.0") graphics and Flash, as well as all post-launch graphic needs
? AQAL Journal: info-graphics and templates
? Integral Training Seminars: Powerpoints (templates and info-graphics), signage, templates for hand-outs, binder covers, etc.
? Integral Spiritual Center (as of 4.6.05): assist in creation of ISC brand identity and implementation in web, print, and a/v
? President's Circle (as of 4.6.05): assist in creation of PC brand identity and implementation in web, print, and a/v
? I-I Presents (media products): packaging, DVD interfaces, labels, etc.
? I-I Live Events: signage, flyers, presentations, etc.
? Marketing: ads for all product lines in need of advertising and promotional materials (print and web)

Secondary Responsibilities:

? Marketing: assist in development of marketing strategies and conceptualization
? Design: experiment with new graphic forms, ideas, and approaches for future use in Integral Institute projects
? Technology: experiment with new graphic technologies, including 3D, Flash, and motion graphics
? Theoretical: competency in integral ideas and application. Assists in research and creation of integral approach to the practice of graphic design, which may include writing papers, creating presentations, and staying up-to-date with current trends in design culture and criticism, along with broader context of design history and contemporary technology.

Occasional responsibilities:
? Copy writing, live event production (set-up and tear-down), transportation of guests (if applicable), photographic documentation of events, working in traditional art mediums

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
? Competency with Mac and PC operating systems and hardware
? Active use of sketchbook and knowledge of design process: research, brainstorming, sketching, mock-ups, revisions, final execution
? Professional-level proficiency in all industry-standard design applications: Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Freehand, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Image Ready
? Excellent proficiency with typography, graphic translations, vector images, icon design, photographic composition and retouching
? Basic HTML, CSS, and ActionScript (bonus: PHP, ASP .Net)
? Bonus: knowledge of 3D rendering, video editing, and motion graphics applications
? Attention to detail and ability to proofread
? Print production skills, working with service providers
? Good interpersonal and electronic communication skills
? Ability to be proactive, organized, and self-sufficient
? Tolerance of non-traditional working conditions

Qualifications:
? BFA in Graphic Design preferred but not necessary
? 2-3 years professional or intern experience in a design position preferred
