Summer Jobs at Glen Helen

Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center is an operating unit of the Glen Helen Ecology Institute of Antioch College, in Yellow Springs, Ohio. It is situated on a beautiful nature preserve spanning over 1,000 acres of protected forests, wetlands, and prairies. Geological features include valleys formed by glacial melt waters, cascades, ledges, and the natural spring from which the neighboring village gets its name. Facilities include a small museum, staff housing, day lodge, and nationally recognized raptor rehabilitation center. Transportation is the responsibility of staff; the village is within walking distance. We are not able host children or pets. 

Benefits of all positions include: Opportunity to work with children Room and board, including vegetarian and vegan friendly meals during the week. 

 

Co-Coordinators: The Co-Coordinators are responsible for making sure the daily program runs smoothly. The qualified candidate will have a year of experience in a similar position. The stipend is $226/ week in addition to the above benefits, payable every two weeks. 

Summer Naturalists: $194/ week stipend in addition to above benefits. Great environmental education experience, teaching kids about nature in fun, theme related camps. Qualifications: Minimum two years of college education. The qualified candidate must have experience in outdoor education. 

DORM COUNSELORS: Dorm Counselors must be at least 18 years old, enjoy working with children and a love for the outdoors. The primary responsibilities are taking care of the campers in the dorms at night, assisting the naturalists on the trails when needed, and participating in evening programs and other activities. The pay rate for dorm counselors is $174 per week, plus above benefits. Dorm staff will be expected to leave the dorms on Friday afternoon; a room in one of our staff houses can be provided for weekend use if necessary. Meals will be provided from Monday breakfast through Friday lunch, and some weekend food will be available for staff remaining on-site over the weekends. 

DISHWASHER: The dishwasher is responsible for running our "Hobart" machine and assisting the cook with meal preparation. The pay rate for dishwasher is $134 per week, plus above benefits.
