We have expanded our office, team, and service offerings and are currently hiring for all positions. We are seeking experienced professionals in the architectural, engineering, and allied fields who can apply their multi-disciplinary skills to green building consulting opportunities.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated professional in the architectural engineering field that can apply his or her multi-disciplinary skills to green building consulting opportunities. This team player is well organized, eager to learn, and excited by the prospect of contributing on multiple projects. This position reports to senior management in our Seattle office.
What We Need
The primary focus of this position is technical assistance to senior staff. This requires the candidate to be technically proficient, a good manager of time, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions, and effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate the ability to work under guided supervision, coordinate tasks with other office staff, and work well with diverse groups and interests. Project work entails execution of directed research and analytical activities, preparation of technical reports and presentations, completion of tasks on schedule, and maintenance of binders and documentation.
This position offers growth potential and is considered the first step towards project management level responsibility as a consultant in the firm.
What You Offer
- A degree in architecture, engineering, or allied field
- LEED Accredited Professional
- Working experience in whole building design, including conceptualization and proof of concept modeling and technical evaluation as demonstrated by either of the following:
- 3+ years professional experience with demonstrated progression in building design with an emphasis on green building, OR
- An advanced degree in architecture, engineering or allied field with equivalent practical experience gained through internships, fellowships, or similar on-the-job training.
- Knowledge of high performance building design and sustainability, with experience in two or more of the following areas:
- Site: Landscape and site design, building and landscape integration, landscape materials - experience with GIS software desired.
- Water: Stormwater management and treatment systems, rain harvest systems, biological treatment systems, water balance modeling desired.
- Energy: Building science, concept design for active and passive systems, envelope expertise, ventilation effectiveness, creating sequences of operation for hybrid systems, energy and CFD modeling skills desired, daylight modeling in physical and computer formats.
- Materials: Recycled and non-toxic content, alternative building material science, specification writing desired.
- IEQ: Indoor air quality, green materials, human ecology.
- Economics: Financial measures, first costs, life-cycle cost analysis and return on investment; and monitoring, verification and evaluation of building performance
- Ability to prepare presentations and reports, strong writing skills and technical documentation ability, clearly and effectively communicating complex ideas
- Expert user of Word, Excel, Illustrator, PageMaker, Photoshop.
- A sense of humor and a knack for innovation, problem solving and negotiating positive results.
Salary Range: 2 levels, experience dependent, range in the upper-thirties to mid-fifties
