Communications Manager

BSR is seeking a savvy, knowledgeable business communicator to help manage our organizational profile and provide clear communications to our key stakeholders.The position will have a diversity of responsibilities and media channels to oversee in serving our mission-driven organization serving both the public and the world's largest companies.

Requirements

• 3-5 years public relations experience
• Bachelor's degree or better
• Passion for contributing in a mission-driven environment

Position Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual communications plan
• Collaborate on all organizational messaging and brand management
• Develop and deliver messaging to BSR member companies and external audiences
• Implement communications content, including (but not limited to): Web site content, mail marketing, newsletters, creative ads, banner ads, print ads, brochures
• Manage media relations, build contacts, seek media sponsorships
• Identify and managing all public speaking engagements for executive team
• Significantly enhance BSR's internal communications to improve message coordination, clarity, consistency, and context.
• Create press releases that communicate clearly and get noticed
• Assist overall BSR brand management
• Build relationships with peer organizations to augment communications strategy

Skills

• Proficiency in a Windows environment using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral with a customer-first focus
• Media training a plus
• Proven writing and editing competencies are required
• Superb leadership and organizational skills
• Excels in a team environment (this position currently has no direct reports, but will contribute as a member of a team of seven.)
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and projects at once
• Adept at managing outside contractors
• Proficiency in HTML a must; design program (Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) knowledge a plus
• Execution-driven, Results-motivated, Deadline-focused
• A second language and experience living outside the United States preferred
• High ethical standards and a commitment to a diverse work place culture
