CEA is looking for a highly skilled and motivated project assistant to provide organizational and administrative support for non-profit and sustainable business clients focused on sustainable food systems. This is an excellent position for a person who is seeking an entry-level position in environmental and sustainable business consulting.
The successful applicant will become involved in the administration of two non-profit projects that focus on California food systems issues, working closely with private foundations and non-profit and sustainable business leaders, as well as work under the supervision of other CEA associates on supporting other non-profit and for-profit clients.
This position will provide support to the program directors on day-to-day management, as well as design, implementation, and strategic planning of the projects' programs. The associate will be working in a challenging and variable environment that will include detail-oriented independent work and client interactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following and other duties as assigned.
* Provide general organizational and operations support to two non-profit projects, as well as other potential projects
* Support communications and outreach efforts including management of all educational materials (articles, marketing collateral), management of several databases - including a grants database
* Provide content maintenance for two websites
* Assist with event planning and organizing for a variety of meetings and functions, including gatherings with up to 100 participants
* Conduct research and produce summary memos, reports, articles, presentations, and proposals
* Assist with production and quality control of outgoing work products and correspondence
* Support project teams with logistics, setting up conference calls, coordinating travel arrangements, etc.
* Provide general office support
Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will have the following minimum qualifications:
* A bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in a field related to environmental studies, economics, or public policy. Coursework in agriculture, public health, food security, marine ecosystems, environmental economics, and environmental policy a plus.
* 1-2 years related experience or equivalent, preferably in an office environment
* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
* Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
* Knowledge of and interest in sustainable agriculture and food systems a strong plus * Competence in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. Database management skills a plus.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
* Past experience with philanthropic organizations a plus
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and multi-task
* Experience working with HTML and web publishing a plus
* Knowledge of the diversity and regions of California a plus.
In addition, applicants should have a strong passion for environmental and social issues.
Term. A commitment of at least 2 years is strongly preferred.
