Description
Eco Encore is a Seattle based, 501c(3) nonprofit organization that transforms used books, CDs, DVDs and software into revenue for environmental organizations in the Pacific Northwest through Internet-based merchandising. We are both a service for people seeking to recycle items they no longer wish to keep and a fundraising vehicle for organizations working to protect our environment.
We are also an awareness-building organization, using, amongst other methods, our web siteand transaction-based communications to help people discover creative ways to reuse manufactured goods and to connect them to environmental organizations in our region.
Following a founder-directed, two-year success story, we seek a half-time Executive Director to manage the next stage of the organization's growth.
Responsibility:
Work with the board of directors to manage the stable growth of Eco Encore, including operations, staff and volunteers, inventory acquisition, business development and fundraising activities. Your experience managing nonprofit organizations and/or small businesses will guide Eco Encore through the transition from a founder-led organization to one led by the Executive Director and an active and engaged board of directors.
The Executive Director will:
Manage the day-to-day operations of Eco Encore including:
- Hire, train and supervise staff and volunteers in the collection, listing and fulfillment of inventory;
- Oversee successful operation of Eco Encore online stores (Amazon, eBay, etc);
- Develop existing and new sources of media product inventory; and
- Manage bookkeeping, payroll, banking and vendor relationships.
Work closely with board president to manage board meetings and develop and implement strategy for the organization;
Report regularly to the board on the status of programs and activities;
Work with various board committees as necessary:
- Work with development committee to lead fundraising efforts;
- Work with treasurer to develop and monitor annual budget;
Serve as editor of Eco Encore's web site.
Cultivate and manage relationships with Eco Encore recipient organizations;
Be the spokesperson and public face of the organization;
Monitor trends, competition, and innovation in the sector; and
Collaborate with staff of recipient organizations to help advance the objectives of Eco Encore.
Desired skills and qualifications:
At least two years experience with nonprofit or related businesses, in a director, program manager, or similar position; Significant experience managing staff or volunteers; Understanding of Internet commerce and working computer and Internet skills; Commitment to environmental preservation and philanthropy; and Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
