Description
The Natural Resources Information Clearinghouse (NRIC) project (www.nric.net), managed by Chemonics International, seeks a Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Specialist to support the Biodiversity and Forestry Teams within USAID's NRM Office.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* tracking USAID biodiversity and forestry activities worldwide and helping the teams write their annual reports, brochures, conference materials, and web page content;
* regularly attending the Biodiversity and Forestry team meetings;
* managing the development of NRIC's online database, which makes accessible information about USAID's global NRM portfolio;
* contributing to projects assigned to NRIC by the Biodiversity and Forestry Teams and the NRM Office.
Qualifications:
1. Masters degree and 5 years of work experience in natural resource, biology, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience in communications and publications.
2. 3-5 years experience in developing country biodiversity conservation, forest management or similar practice areas preferred
3. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work with limited supervision;
4. Demonstrated analytical, management and organizational skills;
5. English fluency required;
6. Exceptional writing skills required, including the ability to write under tight deadlines;
7. Knowledge of USAID and proven ability to work effectively in bureaucratic institutions
8. Ability to work both independently and in a team.
Note: Permanent US work authorization is needed in order to gain required security clearance.
