Description

ForestEthics is looking for a skilled and innovative forest campaigner to join our B.C. coastal team. The successful candidate will help protect coastal rainforests, transform logging practices, and build a healthy and vibrant future for local communities based on ecologically sustainable economic activities.

Who is ForestEthics?

ForestEthics has helped pioneer a new approach to environmental activism by focusing its efforts on the marketplace. This bi-national organization works to educate US and Canadian consumers, large corporate purchasers and distributors of forest products so they are aware of the environmental impacts and ethical dimensions of their purchasing decisions. Our goal is to harness this market power to stop the destructive activities of certain logging companies while encouraging a shift toward environmentally preferable products.

In endangered forest regions, such as British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest, we utilize this market power in negotiations with the logging companies, government and other stakeholders to develop solutions that include protection of forests and new forest practices. We also assist First Nations and impacted communities in their transition toward more sustainable forest economies.

Our work has led to major progress in the Great Bear Rainforest over the past few years, but much work remains to be done. It is challenging, exciting, occasionally frustrating, but always innovative and creative work.
