Description

The Ocean State Environmental Education Collaborative AmeriCorps Program has 12 full-time members providing environmental education to local city schools. The Environmental Collaborative is an association of three environmental organizations, Save The Bay, Norman Bird Sanctuary and Roger Williams Park and Zoo. The 4 members placed at each site create and implement a variety of experiential education programs all over Rhode Island.

Member Responsibilities

Deliver existing environmental education programs

  • Teach in classrooms, in the field, in a zoo/museum setting, and aboard a 45-foot education vessel 
  • Develop and implement new experiential education programs, including service learning projects 
  • Assist with After School Programs 
  • Participate in group service projects 
  • Develop partnerships with schools and community groups

**Other duties related to individual site placement**

  • Team Player 
  • Experience working with children or in front of groups 
  • Interest in Environmental Education 
  • At least 17 years old 
  • H.S diploma or GED (some college preferred) 
  • Legal US resident 
  • Full-time, One-year Commitment, January 10 - December 16, 2005
