Green Mountain Engineering Staffing Requisition: Senior Mechanical R&D Engineer

Job Description:
Work within a highly motivated team of engineers to design and develop products/instruments/equipment for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology companies. This person will conceptualize, analyze, design, build, and test mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. Tasks will include assisting with sales presentations, preparing contract proposals, working with clients to develop specifications, performing theoretical analyses, designing mechanical hardware using SolidWorks and/or Pro/Engineer, assembling and testing precision (and non-precision) mechanical systems, proving feasibility with instrument breadboards and delivering functional prototypes to clients.

As a small company, each candidate we consider needs to fill many gaps and potentially play multiple roles. Person will report directly to the GME/GVE owner, Tyler Palmer.

Required Skills/Knowledge
* BS/MS/PhD in mechanical engineering plus 6/4/2 or more years of work experience in an R&D environment developing prototypes and/or products

* Expertise with ProEngineer and/or SolidWorks (minimum 2000 hours)

* Experience in designing, analyzing and developing precision electromechanical devices used in analytical instruments and/or automated material/fluid handling machines

* Proven success in managing projects and delivering new, creative products within a defined schedule and budget

*Ability to manage time and resources effectively to contribute on multiple projects within the company

*Ability to write clear and concise assembly and test procedure documents

* Ability to give presentations to clients for informal and formal design reviews

Desired Skills/Knowledge
* Knowledge of photovoltaics, solar heating, hydrogen, micro-hydro, wind turbines and microhydro systems
* Knowledge of water purification and conservation, waste recycling and processing and reuse of materials
* Thermal analysis and structural analysis modeling software
* Optical system design
