The Green Resource Center (GRC) seeks a Project/Administrative Coordinator to promote and facilitate the design and construction of resource-efficient buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area's residential and commercial sectors. The Program/Administrative Coordinator is immediately responsible to the Executive Director for the planning and execution of GRC projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
This position requires a flexible schedule, as some responsibilities involve evening and weekend activities. Staff time will be roughly divided between project coordination and administrative activities, at least at the outset. The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following:
1. Organize and coordinate logistics for various events, including trainings, home tours, presentations, workshops, meetings, banquets, and fund raising events ranging in size from 20 to 3,000 participants. Responsibilities include site negotiations, audio-visual logistics, preparation of event collateral, support for event presenters, volunteer coordination, budget preparation and management, and on-site management (setup, registration, and breakdown) of all programs.
2. Coordinate marketing and PR of events, trainings, and workshops.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners, funders, clients, public agencies, and utilities with Green Building-related programs.
4. Support Executive Director with administrative duties such as preparing reports, answering phones, managing filing systems and general office tasks.
5. Design and implement effective information management systems for tracking the performance of residential and commercial sector programs.
6. Provide day-to-day oversight of program budgets.
7. Support Executive Director with grant applications, proposal writing and contracts.
8. Assist fellow GRC staff on all programs as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Proven event coordination and planning skills.
2. Proven organizational skills and project management experience.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage professional relationships.
4. Experience in budget management.
5. A proven commitment to addressing a variety of environmental and public health issues through Green Building and an appetite to learn more about the rapidly evolving field.
6. Proficient writing and communication skillsan ability to write successful grant applications is highly recommended.
7. Self-sufficient office skills: ability to work with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Windows operating systems. Access (or other database) experience is preferred.
8. Knowledge of Green Building design, construction strategies, technologies and materials and the ability to articulate the environmental, health, and economic benefits of Green Building is desirable but not required.
9. Ability to make content changes and minor programming edits to the GRC website is a plus.
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university degree in related field AND at least three years of progressively increasing responsibility performing event planning, public relations and other duties similar to those described for this position.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The project/administrative coordinator is a time position. Salary range is $33,000 - $38,000 (based on qualifications and experience). It is anticipated that the work load will eventually expand to full time, with a corresponding increase in salary. GRC's benefits package includes health insurance and annual leave.

ABOUT THE GREEN RESOURCE CENTER The Green Resource Center (GRC) is a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit whose mission is to spur the market for green building by educating building professionals and the general public on the many environmental, health, and economic benefits of green building. The GRC acts as a central hub, linking building occupants with all aspects of the green building industry and channeling market demand into action. Since it opened its doors on Earth Day 1999, the GRC has served the region with green building information through its print and sample libraries, a phone and email hotline service, technical assistance for commercial projects, green materials database, and coordination of workshops and trainings.
