Director of Education Program

Responsibilities

This role is central to a large project of Dos Margaritas, an education and environmental foundation. The School is located in Northern Patagonia, Chile along Rio Futaleufu, a class V river, amid pristine temperate rainforest and as part of the local community.

The program educates local youth in Argentina and Chile as eco-guides, as this region is a major ecotourism destination. The director will oversee this program, help select students, manage instructors, coordinate the curriculum, interact with local people and organizations and be a primary team member in the direction and management of this multi-faceted project.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following expertise and/or characteristics.

• Formal training and 10 or more years experience as an educator;
• Experience in working with children or young adults;
• 7 or more years experience as a guide in rafting, kayaking, fishing, climbing or mountaineering;
• 5 or more years managing a team, curriculum and budget;
• Comfortable or thrives in remote settings and rural lifestyles;
• Engages easily with others;
• A strong team player;
• Can move between roles that include: manager, instructor, ambassador, mentor;
• Self-motivated and able to manage remotely;
• Acts with common sense and cultural sensitivity;
• Fluent in Spanish and English
