Description
Responsibilities
Archaeological survey, report preparation, and agency coordination for mostly small- to medium-sized rights of way projects. Proposal development and development and management of project budgets; overnight travel for up to one week at time within New Mexico.
Education and Experience Requirements
Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology or related field is preferred; minimum five years experience in New Mexico directly related to described responsibilities.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to obtain state and federal permits for conducting archaeological surveys as Principal Investigator or Field Supervisor across various land ownerships in New Mexico, particularly BLM southwest and northwest areas. Technical proficiency required in: 1) Word Perfect and Word for report preparation; 2) database and spreadsheets (e.g. Excel, Access); and 3) GPS use. Excellent writing and oral communication skills are essential. Must be very organized, thorough, self-motivated, and have a good work ethic. Successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing all aspects of cultural resource projects (from initial planning to completion). Must have knowledge of the archaeology, history, and ethnohistory of the Southwest region, experience with various federal and state cultural resource regulations, and working knowledge of NEPA. Cultural resource management consulting experience preferred.
