Description
Duties:
Responsible for analyzing natural resource data and
complex ecological studies, making recommendations for the protection, enhancement and perpetuation of natural resource values through out the Arizona State Parks System, collecting and evaluating natural resource
information, conducting environmental reviews and ascertaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Parks projects affecting environmental and natural resource matters, ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental and natural resource related laws and regulations, providing technical advice to the Natural Areas Program.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of principles of ecology; principles, techniques, and application of natural resource management in Arizona involving plant, wildlife, grasslands, range, forestry, and soil
science; Arizona vegetation and wildlife and species distribution; natural resource monitoring techniques, methodologies and protocols; the general effect of development and other land use practices on natural resource values; laws and regulations of other governmental agencies as they relate to the state park system and its natural resource values; activities of other agencies and private organizations interested in natural resource management. - Skill in planning, analyzing, developing and presenting
recommendations; technical report writing and review of natural resource and recreation plans; facility with electronic databases, skill in geographical information system; data collection devices and digital photography. - Ability to collect and evaluate natural resource information; understand soil-vegetation-animal interrelationships and make recommendations for protection, enhancement, and perpetuation of natural resource values in the State Parks system; ability to effectively administer major and complex projects; effectively communicate both orally and in writing, prepare reports, including maps and other materials in electronic and graphical formats and coordinate projects with co-workers and other professionals.
- Must have equivalent to graduation from college with a major in ecology, natural resource management, forestry, range management, biology, botany, zoology, wildlife management, or other closely related ecological or biological field.
- Must possess a current Arizona Driver's License at the time of appointment.
- Periodic in-state and overnight travel required.
