Conservation Education Intern

Duties:

• Be a team leader for summer day camps for children ages 8 15.
• Develop and lead programs for families with young children, and mini-camps for ages 5 - 9.
• Assist with public programs and special events.
• Through programs, promote awareness of the Conservation Districts natural restoration efforts.
• Some weekend work is required.
• Almost all programs will be outdoors.

Qualifications:

• Student or beginning professional in environmental education, interpretation, outdoor recreation, or natural resource related sciences.
• Must have strong communication skills, be enthusiastic about our natural world, energetic, enjoy working with children, and be able to work as a team member.
• Experience leading natural history and conservation related programs in an outdoor setting a plus.
• Must possess valid drivers license and be able to provide own transportation.
• International interns accepted through Council Exchanges or AIPT only.

Terms

• Mid/late May through late August,
• 40-50 hour work week
• Monday through Friday,
• usually 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• occasional 6 day work week and/or evening work may be required.
• Autumn 2004 internships may also be offered.
• Stipend and Benefits: $30 per day to a maximum of $150 per week.
• College credit as approved by applicants institution and advisor, free dormitory-style housing available on a first-come basis, workers compensation and safety equipment provided.
