Description
CBN is an award-winning non-profit organization which
works to promote healthy, active, and neighbourhood-
friendly sustainable transportation options within the
City of Toronto. We are hands-on, community-driven
and pragmatic.
Duties:
We are looking for a Development and Communications
Co-ordinator who will work with the CBN board and
program co-ordinators to build the Community Bicycle
Network's profile in Toronto, help provide financial
stability for the organization, increase organizational
capacity and build upon the existing strengths of the
organization.
Responsibilities Include the Following:
- Evaluating CBN's current membership structure and
benefit package; designing and implementing changes
as required - Establishing regular communication with existing CBN
membership and donor base - Developing grant proposals and project plans which
strengthen organizational stability - Building and sustaining relationships with foundations,
local businesses, volunteers, other local non-profit
organizations, government bodies and other stakeholders - Managing organizational budgets -reporting to and
communicating with funders - Communicating and raising the profile of CBNs work
in general - Increasing outreach and the number of paid CBN
members, including renewal of existing memberships - Selling advertising space on BikeShare bikes and
BikeShare hub parking - Increasing the donor pool through targeting individual
donors, corporate sponsors, and increasing partnership
with government agencies - Building partnerships and improving CBNs visibility
through participation at conferences, meetings, and other
events such as City of Toronto Annual Smog Summit or
Velo Ontario meetings.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an energetic
and sharp communicator, able to build relationships with
foundations, local businesses, government agencies,
volunteers and local residents.
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
- A go-getter and a shameless promoter
- Highly-organized, responsible, results-oriented and
solution-focused - Experience in fundraising and community development
- Computer literate: familiarity with spreadsheets, database
management, and desktop and web publishing software - Diplomatic, cheerful, a great team player and a natural leader
- Mature judgment skills and board experience
- University degree or equivalent experience
- Has a vision for CBN gets urban bike culture and
understands the economic and social value of walk-
able/ride-able streets
Our offices are located in the heart of Queen Street West,
have direct TTC access and terrific bicycle parking.
Candidates should be committed to cycling as a mode of
sustainable transportation, and should be able to work
some evening and weekend hours.
