Outreach Associate

Duties:

The Outreach Associate will:

• Be responsible for executing statewide public policy advocacy projects on water, air, and/or other environmental issues that target the Ohio General Assembly and state agencies.
• Work with other OEC staff, member groups, activists and experts to advocate at local, state, and federal levels for the protection and restoration of Ohios natural resources.
• Develop the OEC organizationally by providing presentations and membership services.
• Participate in OEC fundraising and membership events and be responsible for grant applications and meeting grant objectives.
• Execute campaign and outreach strategies such as lobbying, mailings, email, workshops, phone calls, one-to-one meetings, group meetings, and media events.
• Engage legislators, state agencies, environmental and conservation groups, industries, landowners, farmers and concerned citizens in order to fulfill the OECs mission as a statewide non-profit environmental advocacy group-- to inform, unite, and empower Ohio citizens to protect the environment and conserve natural resources.

Qualifications:

• Skills in research, organizing, public speaking, technical issues, regulations, legistlation, media, listening, teamwork, internet and writing
• Two years experience in the public interest sector, or equivalent experience
• Willingness and ability to travel and work ocasional evening hours and weekends
• Energy and self-motivation
• A Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university
• Knowledge of Ohio's environmental and political issues
• A strong interest in the protection and conservation of natural resources
