Assistant Art Coordinator for the Annual Conference on the Environment
"Braving the Rapids: Effective Environmental Activism in Turbulent Times", October 15th-19th, Montreal

The Canadian Environmental Network (CEN) is a non-advocacy network charged with coordinating Environmental Non-Governmental Organization (ENGO) participation in the development of environmental policy. The CEN is hosting its first annual conference on the environment.


The goal of this bilingual conference is to dialogue with Canadian, international and youth environmentalists as well as partners about critical ethical questions arising from environmental issues. Fresh Water is the theme that will be interwoven throughout the conference, acknowledging the Year of Fresh Water, declared by the United Nations. However, this conference is not another conference on fresh water in the year 2003, but an international conference on ethical issues related to environment in the year of fresh water.


Duties:

  • Working with students in schools and community centers on interdisciplinary art projects around the theme of ethics and the environment with a focus on water
  • Collecting these art pieces to create a component of the art exhibit in Montreal October 15th-19th, 2003 at the location of the CEN conference
  • Assistant curator of the art exhibit (exhibit will include documentary films, paintings, drawings and other interdisciplinary arts)


Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be bilingual (English and French)
  • Applicant must have a fine arts background
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently


Terms:


Job duration: 10 weeks
Salary: 10$/hour
Application deadline: May 30, 2003
Start date: Mid June
Conditions: Candidates must have been registered as full-time students in a post-secondary institution in the previous academic year, and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the fall.
