Background:
Pickering Creek Audubon Center is hiring Summer Interns for EcoCamp 2003.
Pickering Creek Audubon Center is a private non-profit 400-acre sanctuary
located on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Pickering Creek's
EcoCamp is a day camp for students entering second through sixth grade.
Duties:
Responsibilities include supervising and teaching "EcoCampers" during the day
(Monday Friday), creating innovative lesson plans for campers, and maintaining
camp facilities. Interns will gain teaching experience in a variety of settings and
with different age groups, improve leadership skills, learn natural history and
receive career guidance.
Qualifications:
All applicants should be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with
children, enthusiasm, flexibility, patience, leadership qualities and a willingness to
work long hours are essential! CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Certificates are
helpful.
This is a wonderful opportunity for college students interested in the natural
sciences to gain experience working in the environmental education field for the
National Audubon Society!
Compensation:
Employment starts on June 16, 2003 and lasts through August 9, 2003. There is
a $150 per week stipend, including housing.
