Background:
An excellent opportunity is awaiting a Natural Resources Director with a city consistently mentioned nationally as offering exceptional quality of life.
This is a department head level position, reporting to the Director of Community Planning and Environmental Services. The Department is a leader in local and regional environmental programs. Fort Collins has purchased nearly 10,000 acres of natural areas in the past few years, and has active purchase, management, interpretation, and restoration programs with long term funding.
Duties:
The Natural Resources director is responsible for a wide range of additional environmental policies and programs, including air quality; solid waste management and recycling; and environmental compliance.
29 full-time professional employees and eight additional seasonal employees staff the department. It has an operating budget of $1.4M, and an annual capital budget of $6M.
Qualifications:
This is a high energy, high visibility position, requiring well-developed management skills. The successful candidate must possess a relevant masters degree, and six-plus years of experience in planning and administration; proven management and administrative skills; excellent communication skills; good judgement and negotiation skills; and strong team abilities.
Compensation:
Salary range $60,008 - $81,614 /yr. D.O.Q., plus an excellent unclassified management full-benefits package.
