Description

Background:

GCA Casey Trees is looking for the right person to be the Citizen
Forester Program Manager and join the Program Team of our dynamic,
growing, and unique organization.

The Mission for the CFP Manager is to develop, implement, and manage
DCs Citizen Forester Program (CFP). This program is a key strategy for
GCA Casey Trees to achieve its mission to restore, enhance, and
protect the urban tree canopy of the District of Columbia. The CFP
builds the political will to support and care for trees in DC.

Citizen Foresters volunteer to serve the community to foster
environmental stewardship by developing a green infrastructure with
trees. To become a DC Citizen Forester, individuals complete 30 hours
of training and 50 hours of volunteer service. The CFP curriculum
includes three modules:

  • Tree Introduction and Inventory
  • Tree Preparation and Planting
  • Tree Pruning and Care

GCA Casey Trees provides all training, leads Inventory service projects,
and provides or directs other options for service project fulfillment. To
date over 500 Citizen Foresters have been trained and participated in
the DC Trees Inventory, an unprecedented accomplishment whereby
teams of student interns and community volunteers evaluated the
