Description

Background:

The San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC), a non-profit job training and education program serving adolescents and young adults, is looking for an Associate Director of Environmental Programs to work at the Presidio Recycling, Reuse and Education Center (PREC).

The PREC serves approximately 150 recycling accounts located in the Presidio, in public parks and recreation areas, and throughout the city. Corpsmembers (ages 17-26) and program staff (the Recycling Outreach Team) reach approximately 500 youth and adults per year with a variety of outreach and education programs.

The Environmental Internship Program supports non-profit organizations and city agencies in the implementation of conservation and environmental education programs through the placement of corpsmembers on site.

Duties:

The Associate Director of Environmental Programs is primarily responsible for the management and administration of the Recycling Outreach Team and the Environmental Internship Program.

These programs include recycling operations, recycling education and outreach, and the placement, support and supervision of corpsmembers in the Environmental Internship Program.

The Associate Director also serves as a member of the ECO Center Management Team, which provides strategic planning and oversight for all ECO Center programs and operations.

The Associate Director of Environmental Programs reports directly to the ECO Center Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in program management, including management of personnel, operations, grants and contracts, budgets and expenditures;
  • Excellent skills in training, developing, and supervising professional staff, supported by 3 years of experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of issues (local and national) pertaining to conservation, recycling and job training in an urban context;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to initiate, develop and manage programmatic partnerships and collaborations as well as professional relationships;
  • Knowledge of outcomes-based program planning and evaluation methods;
  • Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and use of information technologies;
  • Ability to work independently and under deadline pressure;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including prioritizing and completing multiple tasks;
  • Eligibility for SFCC auto insurance policy;
  • DOJ criminal record clearance (to work with minors).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing conservation corps programs;
  • Experience in or strong knowledge of urban environmental issues and associated scientific concepts;
  • Excellent knowledge of youth development and education issues and resources in San Francisco;
  • Fluent in one or more of the following languages:
    • Spanish,
    • Cantonese,
    • Mandarin,
    • Tagalog,
    • Vietnamese.

Salary Range: $2964-$3575 per month, plus benefits.
