SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The GIS Analyst/Ecologist will serve on the Ecology team. His/her initial primary responsibility will be to serve on various project teams, providing GIS and conservation science support. This support will come in the form of project design and implementation for ecosystem mapping and conservation efforts, including conservation site selection and design, biophysical assessments, habitat delineation, conservation suitability modeling, data management, and map production. The GIS Analyst/Ecologist must be capable of both determining optimal approaches to project design and implementing those recommendations. Developing consistent methodologies, while adapting projects to meet local requirements, will be a critical aspect of this position.
In addition to providing support to project teams, the GIS Analyst/Ecologist will take on a variety of tasks and projects relating to the programmatic needs of the organization. Utilizing datasets of varied sources and formats while maintaining the scientific integrity of the analysis will be an important aspect of the Analyst/Ecologist role. The GIS Analyst/Ecologist will work to assist with developing and refining conservation science practices across the range of the NatureServe's work.
