SUMMER ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION/OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY
Work with the HawkWatch
International Outreach Department to bring live, non-releasable raptors to
classrooms and community events in and around Salt Lake City, Utah to
educate about raptors and their role in the environment. Interns receive
training in presentation skills and the handling and care of live raptors.
Duties include program scheduling, presentation, and related record keeping,
as well as some bird care responsibilities. Experience in teaching, public
speaking, or raptor handling is preferred. Additional duties include
researching regional media outlets and working with the Outreach Coordinator
to get press releases and other promotional materials out to the public.
Successful applicants must have their own vehicle.
There is a stipend of
$500 per month plus housing and mileage reimbursement. Start May 6 and work
through July, with the possibility of extension through fall semester.
