Position Overview 

Do you have piles of 'lessons-learned' stacking up? Want to help people by sharing your story? Selected candidates will advise new and soon-to-be wildlife biologists over the phone - answering career-based questions and helping them get ahead.

This is a consulting role with a time commitment of 1-4 hours per month (varies on the amount of requests you get). Set your own rate and schedule your own calls.

Select candidates will be invited to become a Wisewords Advisor where you'll coach new wildlife biologists be successful in the industry. Our clientele are students, recent grads and people changing careers.  

Responsibilities 

Candidates must have excellent communication skills as you'll be sharing insights about the job, including what it's like to: 

  • Develop and conduct experimental studies with animals in controlled or natural surroundings
  • Collect biological data and specimens for further analysis
  • Study the characteristics of animals, such as their interactions with other species, reproduction, diseases, and movement patterns
  • Analyze the influence that human activity has on wildlife and their natural habitats
  • Estimate wildlife populations
  • Write research papers, reports, and scholarly articles that explain their findings
  • Give presentations on research findings
  • Make recommendations to policymakers and the general public on wildlife conservation and management issues 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Reply to call requests promptly
  • Chat with people over the phone to answer their questions about the industry
  • Answer career-based questions
  • Share lessons learned and mistakes made
  • Bounce ideas off of one another
  • Exchange views
  • Provide career-based insights and suggestions 

Qualifications 

  • We're looking for personable wildlife biologists;
  • It's best if you've had about 5+ years of experience; and  
  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills.
