Position Overview:

REpower Systems is currently seeking a Wind Turbine O&M Technician (WO&M TECH).

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the status of all generation station wind turbines;
  • Controlling generation to meet dispatch requirements;
  • Controlling routine plant operations;
  • Responding to alarms and abnormal conditions by taking appropriate corrective actions; 
  • Performing basic routine maintenance duties;
  • The WO&M TECH executes turbine shutdown and start-up procedures as required and assures that the station meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner;
  • On a temporary basis and as required, provide WO&M TECH support to other wind generating stations; and
  • The WO&M TECH carries out these tasks in accordance with Plant Operating and Maintenance procedures and associated vendor and manufacturer technical procedures. 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be learned in four years of high school is required; and
  • The ability to work from technical drawings, electrical diagrams, control circuitry diagrams, logic diagrams, and technical manuals is required.

Must have:

  • The ability and attitude to work safely and ensure the safety of fellow workers in an environment with multiple safety challenges including heights, rotating equipment, high voltages and high hydraulic pressures;
  • The ability to use diagnostic tools and hand and power driven tools;
  • Successful completion of a plant technical examination completed during the interview process;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent teamwork skills; and
  • Computer literacy to include proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing programs.

Additional Information:

Working Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the Plant Manager; and
  • Works along with the Siemens service and maintenance technicians and supervisors.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions.
