Position Overview:
U.P. wind farm seeks full time Wind Farm Technician to support wind farm operations and maintenance. Minimum requirements: 2 year technical degree or demonstrable experience in mechanical, electrical or related fields, ability to climb, and to work independently. Excellent computer, interpersonal relations and references a must.
The Wind Farm Tech supports varying operational aspects of the wind farm facilities.
- Collaborates with the Operations Director and/or Asset Manager, turbine service personnel, the management of the wind farm facilities, and wind farm contractors.
- Ensures operations and maintenance work uses prudent and safety-compliant utility practices.
Responsibilities:
- Supports and assists wind power plant operations and maintenance activities including coordination with contract maintenance workers of the turbine supplier.
- Coordinates certain on-site contractor activities.
- Maintains and monitors spare part quantities and supplies.
- Conducts and coordinates activities at wind farm facilities (turbine sites, O&M Building, Substation) such as, but not limited to, road maintenance, snow removal and related activities necessary to allow access to turbine sites at all times for service and maintenance equipment and personnel.
- Supports and maintains local, public and landowner relations, such as, but not limited to, addressing concerns at community, local governmental and regulatory bodies.
- In coordination with management, maintains regulatory compliance with all operational federal, state and local regulations and associated permits, including all applicable safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Works with Wind Farm management to implement, manage, update and maintain wind farm procedures, site policies, training programs and work practices, and develop and administer MIOSHA approved safety program and related equipment.
- Oversees and administers site computer hardware/software systems including the predictive maintenance and work asset management systems, such as SCADA.
- Implements the Company's procedures to assure compliance with internal controls.
- Possess excellent project management skills to be utilized in the execution of assigned tasks.

This job requires an associates degree.
Additional Requirements:
- Requires a 2-year technical degree or demonstrable experience in mechanical, electrical or related fields. Wind turbine training and/or work history is highly preferable.
- Preferred experience working in a plant, system operations, maintenance on rotating or electrical equipment, exposure to high voltage maintenance and switching, plant SCADA systems, large mechanical equipment and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Work history must demonstrate the ability to work independently, IT knowledge, good oral and written communications skills, and excellent project management skills. Experience in direct supervision of others is preferred. Applicant must be willing and able to climb steel towers in excess of 300 feet in the fulfillment of the duties described herein.
- Must maintain a valid State driver's license.

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On-call 24 hrs. - 7 days for potential emergency conditions
