Description
The Willamette Valley (WV) Stewardship Coordinator will be responsible for implementing ecological restoration, controlling non-native species, and monitoring activities on preserves in the Willamette Valley.
Specifically, position will plan projects, handle logistics, coordinate and oversee volunteers and work crews, map and control populations of non-native species, and collect vegetation and rare plant monitoring data. The majority of the WV Stewardship Coordinator's time will be spent working in the field. Position requires working as part of a team.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; the equivalent of two years of experience in land management, restoration, monitoring, and/or field research; and basic skills in carpentry, fence repair, and trail maintenance. Work toward an advanced degree in biology, ecology, botany, or related fields is preferred. In addition, applicants must have at least one field season of experience managing projects and supervising others, and be able to work independently.
Applicants must be highly motivated to learn and willing to perform manual labor tasks and work outdoors under variable weather conditions. Applicants must provide their own transportation. This position will be based out of Eugene, Oregon, with most of the work occurring near Eugene.
The Willamette Valley Stewardship Coordinator is a non-exempt position supervised by the WV Stewardship Ecologist. The position begins April 29, 2002, and ends November 1, 2002. The WV Stewardship Coordinator will be paid $11.30/hour for 40 hours/week. Housing will not be provided. Benefits are available with this position.
