Report to: Associate Director
Position Summary: The Wildlife Conservation Program Manager implements all aspects of wildlife conservation programs for WiLDCOAST including the San Diego Bay Wildlife Partnership and the "Don't Eat Turtle Campaign" in the United States and Mexico.
Key Responsibilities:
* Management of communications with partners and contractors for the San Diego Bay Wildlife Partnership and the "Don't Eat Turtle Campaign."
* Development of new programs for wildlife conservation in Baja California and in the borderlands region of San Diego-Tijuana with partners in Mexico.
* Coordination of projects including but not limited to scheduling project activities; working with U.S. and Mexican partners to develop project work plans and budgets
* Implementation of projects including media relations, coalition building and project analysis.
* Assist in media relations and communications for all projects and campaigns.
* Provision of capacity building training to partners in wildlife management, environmental education and media strategies.
* Implementation of quality assurance/quality control plan for projects and campaigns.
* Representation of WiLDCOAST in the field for media, donors and potential donors.
* Implementation of duties as assigned for new or emerging projects.
* Resource and liaison to partners, outside agencies, volunteers, media and potential funding sources.
* Internal communications link between staff, media and field operations.
* Administration of program including grant writing, contracts/agreements negotiations, fiscal and contractual reports, tracking and data collection.
* Conduct lectures and presentations on wildlife conservation.
Position Requirements:
* Five years experience working on wildlife conservation projects with a community and outreach focus in a Spanish speaking country. Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in wildlife conservation/biology, natural resource management, geography, international relations and other related fields required.
* Day, evening and weekend hours required.
* Fluency in English and Spanish required.
* Fieldwork in Mexico 50% of the time required.
Desired Experience/Skills:
* Experience working with a variety of people from diverse, socio-economic backgrounds.
* Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
* Ability to use Apple computers is required.
" Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
* Strong organizational skills. Basic understanding of non-profit organization business processes.
* Experience working international media, governmental agencies, and funding organizations.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-profit environment.
