Position Overview  

Wetland/Stream Ecologist with 3-5 years of experience to work in the Monroeville, Pennsylvania office. The primary responsibilities of this position include wetland delineations, stream assessments, water resource permitting, field studies, report preparation and environmental resource coordination with clients, agencies and the public. Responsibilities will include field assessments, report writing, and helping other key senior staff on large complex projects.

Mitigation and/or monitoring and permitting. GIS analysis and mapping. Preparing CE, EA, and EIS documents. Preparing environmental overview and planning reports and other duties as needed. The ideal candidate will be an expert in one or more of the following areas: stream ecology; biology, NEPA regulatory, GIS or other, with leadership abilities. They will have a working knowledge of all applicable environmental regulations. They will also have a BS/MS in Environmental Science, Biology, or other related Natural Science and 3-5 years of experience in Wetland Delineation, Stream Assessment, Environmental Documentation, Environmental Resource Management or related fields. 

Responsibilities 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 

  • Wetland and stream field delineations and preparation of associated reports
  • Regulatory permitting related to water resources, primarily focused on Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia
  • GIS analysis and mapping
  • Preparation of NEPA documents
  • Wetland/Stream mitigation and monitoring
  • Work independently or as part of a project team and be able to adjust to changing site conditions
  • Mentoring and training less experienced personnel and supervise contractors
  • Provide technical support to projects in all phases of work and a variety of scopes
  • Independently evaluates, selects and uses standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for technical projects  

Qualifications  

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of experience conducting field investigations and report writing
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Current HAZWOPER certification
  • Valid Driver's License 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Wetland training
  • Working knowledge of scientific computer programs and models
  • Experience working in diverse environments
