The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 15,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an enthusiastic professional with experience in web design and development.

Position Overview:

The Web Marketing Assistant will work with the creative design manager on various Web site development activities including search engine optimization, reporting needs, Web site improvements and design layout. This position is also responsible for building, testing and emailing out email communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, test, and send HTML email communications working with design templates
  • Implement XHTML/CSS layout in Web pages as needed
  • Size and optimize images for Web use (banner ads, etc.)
  • Assist in optimization of search visibility of Websites
  • Work with Web development team to plan, design, and implement site improvements
  • Respond to ongoing internal customer requests for Web layout, data and analysis
  • Send all email blast communications through Lyris software; responsible for receiving Lyris training
  • Design Web banners, Web buttons, page headers, case studies and PPT presentations
  • Work closely with USGBC Writer & Editor to assist in Web site updates - includes updating Web pages and performing technical updates.
  • Work with the marketing team to update all PowerPoint presentations
  • Maintain various databases including the photo database - also manage photo requests
  • Assist in budgeting activities

Related Organizational Goals and Objectives:

  • Effectively communicate USGBC's marketing messages to all audiences
  • Promote USGBC programs and products to support fiscal growth for the Council through various forms of marketing/communications media
  • Develop and maintain the USGBC's image graphically

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Technical skills, including:
    • Proficiency with XHTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite
    • Hands-on experience with web analytics, multivariate testing, and Web site behavior targeting
    • A comfort with primary research methodologies
    • Solid writing, presentation, and client interface skills
    • Experience with Flash and JavaScript considered a plus
