Position Overview: 

BuildingGreen, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and multi-talented Web Developer to work in our Brattleboro, Vermont offices. Any candidate must have at least 3 years of experience with both front-end and back-end Web development, including at least 2 years building database-driven websites on the Drupal platform.

What is BuildingGreen up to with its websites?

  • Our websites are constantly updated with new tools, content, and products to better serve and engage with our customers. 
  • We use ubercart to sell our electronic and print resources.
  • We are in the process of transitioning BuildingGreen.com from a home-grown ColdFusion-based content management system to Drupal.

Responsibilities:

What will our Web Developer do?

  • Participate in all aspects of website development: analysis, planning, testing, development, maintenance
  • Develop custom Drupal modules with an emphasis on usability, functionality, and intelligent reporting
  • Assist development team in transitioning existing content, user data, and functionality from ColdFusion to Drupal
  • Assist in implementing new CRM strategies across multiple web sites
  • Implement bug fixes and assist with routine and pro-active maintenance of our websites 
  • Help bring efficiency to our customer service procedures, with a focus on streamlined and effective back-end store systems
  • Create and update documentation on both new development and modifications
  • Utilize emerging technologies to improve user experience and/or internal content management workflow, including expanding beyond conventional web technologies into mobile apps and multimedia.

Qualifications: 

What do we expect of you?

  • Experience with PHP and Drupal (and, of course, HTML, CSS and JavaScript). 
  • Proven ability to learn new things and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Great care for the quality of your work and superb attention to detail.

It would be even better if you also have experience with:

  • Server maintenance 
  • Supporting and maintaining e-commerce applications, especially ubercart. 
  • Maintaining mission-critical systems.
