Comprehensive Community Solutions, Inc. (CCS) is a non-profit, tax-exempt agency founded in 1992. Position Overview:
Weatherization work includes building envelope repair and upgrades focused on improving the energy efficiency of single family homes for low-income residents. Additional responsibilities include evaluation of projects, material ordering, crew supervision and evaluation and training and corrective instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Insulation of attics, sidewalls, foundations, crawlspaces
- Application of air-infiltration materials
- Applies insulating material to exposed surfaces of structures such as attic, wall basement, air ducts, hot and cold water pipes, water heater storage tanks and mobile home underbellies
- Installs weather-stripping to doors and windows
- Operates blow-in foam equipment
- Performs other general carpentry and energy-saving measures: door and window replacement; drywall hanging and taping; cutting, framing & trimming attic accesses
- Oversees and supervises the daily field operations of the weatherization crew, including providing training and corrective instruction, monitoring and evaluating performance and resolving problems as needed.
- Estimates labor and materials expenses for weatherization projects
- Maintains accurate inventory of all materials used on job sites and assigned tools and machinery, reporting discrepancies to supervisor.
- Conducts home repairs under guidelines of State of Illinois weatherization standards
- Follows all Lead Safe Work Practices
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times
- Must always represent CCS in a positive and professional manner
- Attends all meetings and trainings as required by the agency and/or local weatherization agency requirements.
