Description
Responsibilities:
* Use GPS to map noxious weeds in the Sacramento Delta
* Upload noxious weed data points into a GIS data base
* Manage noxious weed mapping volunteers as needed
* Manage the bilge pad recycling program at Lake Berryessa
* Distribute watershed protection educational materials at Lake Berryessa
* Update watershed educational materials for the boat dock kiosks at Lake Berryessa
* Write newsletter articles about watershed protection
* Other duties as assigned by the District Manager
Desired Qualifications:
We are looking for a recent graduate, junior or senior level undergraduate or graduate student who has taken classes in environmental science, environmental education, watershed science, ecology, environmental toxicology or similar field. The person must have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working alone in the field, during day-time hours. Experience using GPS and GIS is highly desired.
The position is temporary, full-time, and non-exempt (hourly). Medical, dental and vision benefits are not provided. Position is open until filled.
The employer is the Board of Directors of the Solano Resource Conservation District, and day to day supervision will be by the District Manager.
Duties for this position are split between the Dixon Field Office of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Solano County, California, the Sacramento Delta in Solano County and Lake Berryessa in Napa County.
June 15th - September 14th (flexible). Tuesday - Saturday 9am - 5pm (Saturday work days at the lake are required)
