Position Overview 

JMT is seeking an entry level Water Resources Design Engineer to join the Sparks Water Resources group. 

Responsibilities  

  • The Design Engineer will perform aspects of water resources engineering under the direct supervision of a registered professional engineer.
  • Work assignments will focus on drainage and stormwater management analysis and design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, erosion and sediment control design, NPDES studies and basic vegetative stabilization measures.
  • Knowledge and application of general engineering principles and practices will be used daily. 

Qualifications  

Required Skills: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources.
  • 0-4 years of experience in Water Resources Engineering.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform field work including lifting 50 lbs.

Job Preferences: 

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam.
  • Hydrologic Modeling experience using TR55 / TR20 and Rational Methodologies
  • Hydraulic Modeling experience using HEC-RAS and/or HY-8.
  • Microstation and/or AutoCAD drafting experience.
  • Experience using ArcGIS.
  • Water Resources engineering design experience in Maryland.
  • Internship in Water Resources.
  • Stormwater Management design experience.
  • Erosion and Sediment Control design experience.
  • Storm Drain design experience.
