Position Overview
The Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling Program is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, independent and reliable person to increase waste reduction awareness throughout Washington County. The Waste Reduction Outreach Specialist will focus on the following topics:
- Recycling and food waste prevention education at multifamily communities
- General waste reduction education to the public at community events.
- Reuse and recycling events at multifamily communities.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support environmental stewardship, develop a variety of skills and interact with diverse populations including seniors, youth, and Spanish-speaking households.

Qualifications:
- Interest and experience in engaging the public via group presentations, door-to-door canvassing and at events
- Basic conversational English and Spanish skills.
- Detail oriented
- General knowledge of and passion for resource conservation
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Compensation and Benefits:
- $12,530 living allowance
- $5,730 education award
