Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc., North America's fourth largest ethanol producer, has an immediate need for a Human Resources Director or Vice President at our corporate office in Omaha, Nebraska. 

Green Plains currently operates a total of nine ethanol plants in six states. We also market and distribute ethanol for independent third-party ethanol producers, and we operate grain storage facilities and complementary agronomy and petroleum businesses.

We are a growth company and we seek to continue our growth by adding grain storage facilities, ethanol plants, fueling terminals and more.

Position Overview:

The Human Resources Director or Vice President drives the development of the Human Resources function and is responsible for planning, administering, and directing Human Resources functions of the company, in collaboration with senior management, including talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, acquisition activity, benefits, employee and labor relations, training and development, and employment practices and procedures.

The position requires the ability to work on assignments that are complex in nature where independent action, judgment and a high degree of initiative are required. It also requires a strong combination of analytical, decision making and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, develop, implement, direct, and evaluate the Company's human resource functions
  • Manage and direct exempt personnel in the Human Resources department to improve and maximize performance
  • Provide leadership in merger and acquisition due diligence for all HR areas; develop and execute integration plans accordingly
  • Provide consultative support and counsel to all levels within the organization while aligning Human Resource strategies to support the business needs
  • Participate in the development of the Company's plans and programs as a strategic partner
  • Administer and review benefit programs to ensure the Company remains competitive in the market
  • Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the Company
  • Develop and oversee implementation of personnel development and training programs to include leadership development and succession planning as well as key skills development
  • Enhance human resource information systems database and necessary reports for critical analysis of the HR function
  • Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of employee relations, affirmative action, and other facets of Human Resources
  • Evaluate the human resource department for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the team
  • Comply with all existing governmental and labor legal and governmental reporting requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Minimum of seven years experience
  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all levels
  • Knowledge of agribusiness and/or commodities business preferred
  • Ability to translate business needs into effective strategies and actions
  • Demonstrated leader with ability to immediately establish credibility
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Occasional travel to plant locations
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job includes but is not limited to: frequent sitting, computer use, and telephone use
