Vice President of Engineering

Aerosol Jet is also emerging as a game changing technology for other printed electronics applications such as 3D Interconnects for Multi Chip Packages (MCPs), Bridge/Jumper circuits for capacitance touch screens, and even novel applications in Biofabrication. The technology can produce features as small as 10 um, is compatible with both rigid and flexible substrates and is capable to print on non-planar surfaces.

Position Overview:

This senior executive will lead a team of 12 engineers and scientists to refine the processes and scale the Aerosol Jet equipment to bring this revolutionary technology into high volume production.

The Vice President will establish the methodology for solution development, coordinate and prioritize development activities, driving detailed resource allocations that best match the Company's strategic/tactical plans. This executive will implement best-in-class development methods that result in tools and processes that yield predictable, repeatable and scalable manufacturing results in commercial volumes and that meet customer cost, throughput and yield targets.

The Vice President of Engineering will recruit, develop, motivate and retain a professional technology team and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of staff.  He/She will provide leadership, fostering collaboration among all departments within the company and encourage innovation and creativity within the scientific/engineering teams.

This executive will play a key role in defining and executing on joint development agreements and leading intellectual property development and protection strategy.  He/She will work directly with the senior management team and outside Centers of Excellence on a full range of technology/business issues and will coach and develop the technology team leaders to do the same.

The Vice President of Engineering will be an executive of the company and will not only lead engineering but also be the technology voice of the engineers both within and outside the company and truly help lead and guide Optomec.  This position reports to Dave Ramahi, CEO and President of Optomec.

Qualifications:

• Commercial success as either an Engineering Manager or Director of Product Development in a semiconductor or other electronics capital equipment company.
• Track record of developing complex products, on time and on budget that met performance and quality goals.
• Proven success at recruiting, motivating and retaining a strong engineering team.
• Excellent project management skills evidenced by delivering simultaneously on multiple complex projects on time/budget. 
• Has 5 to 10 years in a leadership role managing a cross functional team of 20+ engineers and a budget of at least $2M. Has leadership skills that inspire follower-ship and the result in an esprit de corps throughout the technology team.
• Is familiar with or has direct experience with unique challenges associated with a small company environment
• Strong materials/process development understanding preferred.
• BSME/Physics or equivalent required, MS/MBA preferred. Experienced with gas based systems.
