Hydro Green Energy, LLC is a venture capital backed, cutting edge renewable energy project developer and integrator that designs, builds, and operates patented low head hydropower projects that generate base load, zero carbon electricity without having to construct dams.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking candidates with significant EPC management experience in the power sector to develop and lead our Houston, Texas based engineering design team. Candidates must possess a Doctorate or Masters degree in Mechanical or Civil engineering or other related fields.
Experience developing and leading engineering design teams in an EPC environment and manage them effectively is required. Familiarity and experience with troubleshooting rotating turbo machinery / hydraulic systems is a plus. Preparation of technical specifications, drawings, quantity estimates, and proposals as well as review of contractor and vendor submittals will also be required.
In addition, applicant will assist technical staff in field activities including site inspections, monitoring and other fieldwork. Travel to project sites will be required up to 20% of the time.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Develop and lead the engineering design team and assist with the hands-on design needed when working with axial and/or rotating turbo-machinery.
- Understanding of fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics simulation and output, structural analysis, experience with power system design, familiarity with "off-the-shelf" SCADA/instrumentation and control systems and an ability to conceive ideas to solve design problems related to hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency and understanding of Autodesk Inventor (or other 3D CAD systems), Fluent or other CFD packages, ANSYS or other FEA packages, and CFX or other blade modeler software packages.
- Must be able to bring new or redesigned products from concept to market.
- Must work well with internal and external team members of other clients engineering groups to define objectives and obtain the required results.
- Experience in managing several EPC projects simultaneously is preferred.
- Masters or PhD degree in Mechanical and or Aerospace engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer - 15 years minimum experience.
- Strong communication and technical presentation skills both in the form of written reports and oral presentations
