The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced manager to serve as Manager Record Maintenance for the LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) program to oversee the development and delivery of the new electronic record maintenance program for a rapidly growing, global credentialing program and diverse community of more than 54,000 green building professionals.
The Green Building Certification Institute is seeking a dynamic operational leader and business manager experienced in the building or ISO certification fields to direct ongoing operations to ensure effective delivery of certification.
Position Overview:
The Vice President for Certification will manage all related activities including Certification Bodies, GBCI Board, workgroups, committees, communication with internal and external stakeholders, and documentation.
Duties include HR aspects of staff supervision, hiring, and training, team workload management, oversight of consultants, planning and executing team meetings, resolving challenging issues, improving internal tools and processes, advocating for team needs to senior management, serving as a member of the GBCI Executive Management Team, and thinking strategically about future needs. This person will also advise in reshaping team workflows for the next year. In addition, this person will assist the Vice President for Accreditation with department budget preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual budget and program plans in collaboration with the GBCI COO, Vice President for Accreditation, GBCI Executive Management Team, GBCI Board and appropriate volunteer committees
- Oversee implementation and evaluation of the next stage of the certification program
- Guide planning and capacity building for the next stage of the certification program
- Oversee workforce planning at staff, contractor and volunteer levels. Recruit, train and manage key staff members to support departmental operations and growth
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key partners, especially Certification Bodies
- Collaborate with Market Development, Marketing and Communications teams to ensure effective coordination across program areas
- Oversee procurement, contracting and management of vendors
- Advise committee leaders on policies, procedures, coordination, and management
- Prepare regular program and financial progress reports
- Serve as GBCI representative and/or spokesperson and handle media inquiries and outreach to industry organizations as relevant
Qualifications:
- LEED-AP or acquisition of LEED-AP status within 6 months of hire required
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (architecture, engineering, business, etc.) required, master's preferred
- Status as registered Engineer/Architect preferred
- Minimum 7 years program development and technical (architecture, engineering, construction, ISO certification) management experience including work plan and budget preparation
- Knowledge of green building and ISO certification principles and practice
- Effective written and interpersonal communications skills
- Attention to detail, organizational skills and team leadership experience
- Experience in rapidly changing organization; ability to understand and manage change; ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop staff
- Excellent analytical, organizational and financial management skills
