Summary of Position
Oceana’s Development Department is seeking a Vice President, Major Gifts, Corporate Partners and Events to lead our global fundraising strategy across major gifts, corporate partnerships, and high-profile donor events. This is a unique opportunity to shape Oceana’s development efforts at the executive level, driving revenue growth and building strong relationships that directly advance our mission.
The Vice President, Major Gifts, Corporate Partners, and Events is a key member of Oceana’s Executive team, reporting directly to the CEO. This role oversees a global fundraising portfolio, leading a team of 12 responsible for major gifts, events, and corporate and celebrity partnerships. The VP will design and execute strategies to engage high-net-worth donors, family foundations, and corporate partners, while also developing innovative events that raise revenue and elevate Oceana’s visibility worldwide.
The successful candidate will bring at least 15 years of progressive fundraising leadership experience, with a track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts, leading global corporate partnerships, and producing high-impact donor events. The VP will also partner closely with the Board of Directors, senior leaders across Oceana’s nine country offices plus the European Union, and cross-functional teams including Marketing & Communications, Finance, and Institutional Giving.
This is a highly visible, externally facing role for a proven leader who is strategic, entrepreneurial, and passionate about building a culture of philanthropy. The position requires significant domestic and international travel (approximately 40%).

Oceana’s U.S. offices have operated on a hybrid schedule and staff have been required to work from their assigned office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. With agreement between the employee and their supervisor, the employee may work remotely Monday and Friday.
Salary range: $240,000 – $265,000
