Position Overview:

The Vice President is a senior level executive with primary responsibility for the development, implementation, enhancement and evaluation of all aspects of the organization's annual fundraising and communication plans. The Vice President works in close partnership with the President to develop and achieve the organization's financial and programmatic priorities, lead its staff, interface with the Board of Directors, and serve as a senior spokesperson, and liaison with donors, government officials, and the public.

The Vice President is the second in command and charged with implementing the responsibilities of the President in the President's absence. The Vice President should have, or be capable of developing, the skills, convictions and diverse competencies necessary to succeed the President.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a deep personal conviction to advancing the cause of environmental protection and embrace the ideals of civic advocacy, community action and education. These values should be paired with supervisory experience in the non-profit sector and demonstrated competencies in the design and implementation of annual development and communication plans including: constituent recruitment, management and development, high-donor relations, grant writing, event management, and planned giving.

This background should be supported with exceptional leadership, financial management and organizational skills as well as demonstrated experience with written and oral communication, and public speaking. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and be familiar with the Macintosh computer platform. Experience with Raisers Edge fundraising software and web-based communication technology is highly valued.

Applicants should have at least a 4-year degree or comparable educational credentials, and a minimum of 7-10 years experience in nonprofit management or a related field of employment. A Masters degree may be substituted for up to 3 years experience depending upon the applicant's course of study. Applicants without these specific qualifications are welcome to apply but should clearly demonstrate how their background would uniquely qualify them for this position.

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience. Full time employees receive generous medical, prescription, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, with optional access to a 403(b) tax-deferred retirement plan and Section 125 pre-tax flexible spending accounts (for health and child care expenses) and direct deposit payroll.
