Vegetation Management Specialist

Position Overview:

Aspen Environmental Group is seeking a Vegetation Management Specialist to develop and implement short-term and long-term regional management plans for vegetation control along electric transmission line ROWs in southern California, southern Nevada, and Arizona. 

Responsibilities:

Primary duties include:

• Serving as a project manager for ROW and access road projects.
• Coordinating landownership policies, legal responsibilities, environmental requirements, and technical specifications among several departments.
• Reviewing transmission line corridors and construction projects for compliance with standards for ROW clearance and access road erosion control.
• Coordinating and developing an annual management plan for access road construction, maintenance, and acquisition needs.
• Developing and maintaining regional vegetation management and access road program data that includes: annual work plans, project tracking spreadsheets, environmental analysis checklists, and statements of work.
• Serving as a technical expert and representative in vegetation and ROW management meetings.
• Tracking and reporting project budgets.
• Complying with environmental, health, and safety requirements, including policies on endangered/sensitive species and environmental/cultural restrictions.

Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include:

• Forestry or related degree.
• 3 to 5 years of project management experience in electric transmission line ROW vegetation control.
• A thorough knowledge of the North American Electric Reliability Council Vegetation Management Program Standard.
• Experience in identifying and documenting clearances between vegetation and overhead transmission lines under different electric loads and ambient conditions.
• Experience in creating and implementing annual plans for vegetation management work.
