Vegetarian Kitchen Manager

Sundance Natural Foods is a traditional natural food store operating in a single location on the south side of Eugene, Oregon since 1971.

We boast a fabulous produce department, featuring certified organic, local, and wildcrafted produce. We have a comprehensive, discount supplements department as well, with friendly, knowledgeable staff dedicated to helping customers with their supplement choices.

Position Overview:

Sundance is seeking a person to lead a small team of cooks in creating wholesome soups, salads, hot entrees, sandwiches and baked goods for our salad bar, hot buffet, grab and go case and pastry case.

We have been providing our community with these foods, made organically, using whole grains, since 1991, but for the last few years we have been contracting out the production while we geared up for the installation of a new 1,400 square foot kitchen facility.

We are ready to hire now for this full time job.

We have temporarily rented space in another facility so we have a kitchen to work in while the new one is completed, hopefully sometime in October.

Responsibilities:

Now that kitchen is under construction and we are looking for someone to manage it and the several people who will work there.

While we have hundreds of recipes, (many of which probably need refining, and definitely new costing), we look forward to new ideas from our new team.

Of course, managing productivity and controlling food costs are vital to the success of a prepared food program, but we also place a high premium on maintaining 'good vibrations' in the kitchen.

Qualifications:

The person we hire will have significant experience managing people, an enthusiasm for cooking vegetarian fare, and a willingness to make a commitment to be here at least 3 years.
