Position Overview 

Work in the Energy Supply group to ensure that the Company is managing, procuring, and retiring the Environmental products associated with mandatory and voluntary regulatory requirements.

This position will also be responsible for identification, participation, reporting, and interpretation of ISO, Utility, and Regulatory issues, rate modifications, and changing business/market rules that impact the organization from a Risk and Supply perspective.

Responsibilities  

Essential Functions: 

  • Manage the company's Environmental compliance requirements in relation to Renewable Portfolio Standards, Voluntary Renewable Energy Credits, and Carbon Offsets.
  • Ongoing maintenance of forward mandatory and voluntary Environmental requirements, coordination with Risk and Supply to plan and meet these needs, and maintenance of an accurate position report.
  • Perform the timely retirement of Environmental products and submission of compliance reports as required by the States and in ISOs systems.
  • Monitor and routinely report on regulatory, compliance, ISO committee & membership meetings, Utility issues, market design changes, and other business-related ongoing information that affects XOOM Energy from a Supply and Risk Perspective.
  • Prepare appropriate documentation as necessary to support XOOM new market entries. Confirm load data and collateral postings calculations initially and as necessary.
  • Research new and emerging regulatory activities, market rules, and tariffs affecting the company and update impacted business groups and senior management on a regular basis.
  • Assist Power Scheduling team as needed to help balance and schedule power portfolio in a timely manner.
  • Identify and represent the company on certain coalition panels and initiatives that improve industry operational conditions favorable to the Customer Choice programs and XOOM, as well as the future viability and profitability of XOOM.
  • Be point of contact for all ISO/RTO client reps as well as regulatory proceedings and conduct annual compliance training for XOOM Trading, Legal, and Accounting.
  • Produce regulatory summaries on a regular basis for the entire XOOM Energy footprint.
  • Other duties assigned. 

Qualifications  

Knowledge, Skill Set and Qualifications Required: 

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree with concentration in business, accounting, engineering, economics, or energy-related discipline.
  • 2-3 yrs. experience in Energy Regulatory, Supply, Risk, and Pricing; or within an electric utility or ISO preferred
  • Understanding of gas and power fundamentals and the impact of regulatory changes.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and set work priorities accordingly.
  • Strong reporting, analytical, and computer skills, including Excel spreadsheet modeling and development.
  • Understanding of the individual pricing/deal components and risks that comprise a deliverable product.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify, analyze, and present explanations.
  • Must be an energetic self-starter and independent worker, that works effectively in a fast paced team-oriented environment.
