Test Design Engineer

For 14 years, Earth Economics has been a leader in using quantitative analyses to solving some of the world's most pressing ecological and economic challenges. We calculate and demonstrate to decision-makers, globally, the economic value of the many services of nature (water purification, prevention of soil erosion, pollination, etc.) to shift global investment and development toward more sustainable and just decisions and institutions. As part of our overall mission, we're now building the world's largest database of ecosystem service values, and a computational engine that, for the first time, will allow anyone, anywhere in the world, to generate ecosystem service valuations (click here for a high-level description of this project).

Position Overview:

We are seeking a part-time Test Design Engineer with great testing and automation skills, vision, and passion for doing meaningful and transformative work to join our rapidly growing team.

This is a part time, temporary position for 6 months.

Responsibilities:

• You will work with the Earth Economics development team to create a complex, web based, data driven application. You will be expected to be able to test the full stack of technology.
• You will help engineer a world-class platform for Earth Economics' ecosystem service valuation application.
• You will identify opportunities for process, tools and test methodology improvements and drive those from concept to implementation.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• Ability to ramp up quickly on any type of new technology (including hardware and software infrastructure).
• Proven track record in handling fast moving, complex projects/releases and keeping track of details of each test cycle in parallel.
• Excellent understanding of testing concepts, test methodologies and how test fits into the SDLC and an agile team.
• Good understanding of object oriented programming with strong coding and debugging abilities.
• Ability to leverage and integrate different industry-level automation frameworks/tool practices.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with test automation techniques and testing tools is required, and knowledge of more advanced testing methodologies such as model based testing is a plus
• Familiarity with industry best practices for quality management is a plus.
• Strong customer focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work independently as well as in a team environment.

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of software testing/development and automation experience.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases & XML preferred.
• Experience working on AWS and a LAMP stack preferred.
• Experience in testing systems to ensure compliance with security or accounting standards is a plus.
