~ The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is advancing science, protecting ecosystems, and building connections to sustain the lower Columbia River estuary. ~

Located on the lower Columbia between the states of Oregon and Washington, we are one of 28 National Estuary Programs in the United States working to improve the health of a nationally significant estuary.

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization supported by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the states of Oregon and Washington and numerous other public and private entities. The Estuary Partnership includes all who live, work or recreate in the lower Columbia and estuary and are committed to its health and vitality.

Position Overview

The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership seeks a Temporary Field Technician to work as part of the Partnership's Science Team.  This position supports the Estuary Partnership’s ecosystem condition, fish, water quality, toxics, invasive species, and habitat restoration action effectiveness monitoring programs. The position collects monitoring data and assists with habitat restoration activities.

Qualifications

Preferred experience:

  • Experience adhering to established field data collection protocols, wetland plant identification, fish collection, maintenance of field monitoring equipment, data management, and GPS experience in field settings.
  • We place a priority on applications from students or graduates who come from or have experience with diverse populations and underserved communities, including communities of color and communities of limited income.
  • The successful candidate will thrive in a team environment, have strong communication skills, be comfortable with a diverse project portfolio, and have a broad background based in natural resources.
  • Knowledge of lower Columbia River issues is a plus.

Details

  • Position: Temporary Field Technician
  • Duration & Time Commitment: June 2017 – August 2017, but may be extended.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Salary Range: $18 – $20/hour
  • Supervisor:  Senior Research Scientist
